"OUT ON THE DUNES I'M RIDING HARD AND PUSHING THE BUGGY BEYOND THE LIMIT, SO MY EQUIPMENT'S GOTTA LAST ME A WHILE. IT'S GOOD KNOWING THE SPEEDHUT GAUGES WILL SURVIVE ALL THAT ABUSE. - JARED HAIR, Dune Buggy Enthusiast

Located in the Sevier Desert of Central Utah you'll find a sandy playground for off-road adventurers: the Little Sahara. This giant, free-moving sea of sand covers nearly 60,000 acres of desert land and is littered with dune buggies and motorcycles weaving in and out of sand bowls, dropping down sheer cliffs, and plowing up the 700-foot "Sand Mountain".

And here's where you'll find Jared Hair.
"I've been riding dune buggies since I was a kid. My parents would come here years ago, and now I bring my family."

At 20-years old he built his first three-seater buggy and kept it until his family outgrew it and required a larger, long-travel vehicle. "I needed something that would hold more people and could also handle the jumps and bumps better."

His current off-road sand toy is an '05 Suspension Unlimited buggy, loaded with a set of Speedhut gauges and an LS2 engine - and which occasionally hits top speeds of 95mph. "That's as fast as she'll go."

And when Jared (or one of his sons) isn't climbing massive walls of sand, jumping off sheer cliffs or doing wheelies in the buggy you'll find him at his machine shop, doing what he loves for a living. Even more, three of his sons work for him. "One of my sons sometimes wears a dinosaur suit at work," Jared laughs as he recalls the funny moment. "You can't take life too seriously--you've got to have fun. Because that's what it's all about - family and fun."
