When it comes to passion projects, Shawn Bassett’s Toyota Celica V12 is in a league of its own. What started as a classic Japanese icon has turned into something truly extraordinary—a mix of vintage charm, modern performance, and an engine that commands attention.

The heart of this build? A massive V12 engine swap that Shawn didn’t just drop in for the sake of power. He went all-in to create a perfect balance between performance and design. It’s a bold move, but one that feels just right. The Celica’s classic curves now complement the V12, and the result is a car that looks as fast as it feels.

One of the things that really stands out about this Celica is how the V12 fits so seamlessly into the car. Custom mounts, fine-tuned precision—every detail was carefully planned, and it all comes together as if that engine was always meant to be under the hood.

Inside the car, Shawn blended modern touches with the Celica’s iconic style. The interior has a luxury feel but still respects the car’s roots. And, of course, Speedhut gauges keep Shawn on top of performance, all while maintaining that factory-finish look.

We met up with Shawn at SEMA in the Toyo Tires Treadpass area, and getting a closer look at his work was truly a treat. This build isn’t just about a powerful engine—it’s about Shawn’s dedication to making something unique and personal. His attention to detail, from the stance to the bodywork, makes this Celica V12 a one-of-a-kind creation that perfectly balances power and style.

Massive props to Shawn for taking the time to show us around!
