About Speedhut Tachometer Products

tachometers

Who is Speedhut?

We are a gauge manufacturer with over 10 years of success and growth in the extremely competitive global gauge market. All of our tachometers are designed and assembled in the USA at our Utah factory. We sell direct to the performance enthusiasts, and many OEMs all over the world.

Does Speedhut manufacture the tachometers?

Yes- we continually strive to stay ahead of the competition with innovative design, solid engineering, while manufacturing all of our tachometers in the USA at our facility. Our engineering team and production team work closely together to ensure quality throughout manufacturing process. Because tachometer development and production is all done at the same location we have the ability to quickly meet our customers needs and with a price much lower than our competition.

We manufacture and sell direct the following tachometer types

2" Tachometers

2-5/8" tachometer

3-3/8" tachometers

4" tachometers

4.5" tachometers

Speedhut Gauge tachometers
(Introductory line. No shift lights or warning lights)

Are all tachometers equal?

NO- There are many different electrical designs for current tachometers on the market. Most of these designs rely on a combination of resistors and capacitors to condition the signal so the tachometer hardware chip can accurately read the signal coming into it. Although this design works quite well for many applications, it falls short if the signal amplitude drops below certain voltage thresholds. Usually this threshold is around 12 volts.

With many newer ignitions on the market today like Coil on Plug type, this cut-off threshold voltage, in many cases, is above the trigger voltage of the coil and therefore the tachometer does not see the input tachometer signal.

Gauge manufactures have tried to get around this by requiring customers purchase a tachometer adaptor box that will read these lower voltages from the coils and convert it to a 12 volt pulse the tachometer can then read. This requires an additional purchase for the customer- not very cool!

All of our tachometers use our 'Smart Pulse' ™ technology. This exclusive technology was developed by our engineering team to remedy this situation. Speedhut's tachometers do NOT require a tachometer adaptor box. We can do this through a combination of hardware and software filtering that sample the tachometer signal over 100,000 time / second! Our software algorithms within the gauge micro-processor then determine how much dynamic filtering to apply for the given tachometer signal, giving the user the most accurate and stable RPM readings of any tachometer. This allows the tachometer signal to work with an extremely wide variety of RPM signals, ranging from 1 volts to 600 volts in amplitude. Sine wave, pulse waves, square waves, etc are all easily interpolated with our 'Smart Pulse' technology. We feel we have the most flexible tachometer on the market, that will work with any ignition system from the single coil mechanical points to Coil on Plug newer styles.

Throughout all our tachometer products, we utilize precision surface mount technology and microprocessor-controlled gauge movements. A high torque digital stepper-motor gauge movement drives the pointer. The stepper motor isn't fazed by temperature or vibration extremes like many mechanical and 90 degree gauges can suffer from. Each of our tachometers are then assembled in an extremely shallow instrument case, allowing easy-on-the-knuckles mounting in your instrument panel, and every gauge is rigorously tested before being sold, which allows us to confidently offer a lifetime guarantee on each gauge.

Speedhut's personal guaranty to you

We work hard to efficiently and effectively meet our customer's unique requirements for customizable instrumentation products. We understand that our customers want the very best for their application. Therefore, they deserve the very best in customer service. Big quality, small industry footprint results in that better personal service. And because each gauge is assembled at our own production facility, Speedhut can provide excellent quality OEM gauges private-labeled with your company logo, quickly and economically.

life time warrantyWe are proud to offer the longest warranty in the gauge industry, with a Life-time warranty on all gauge electronics and a 5 year warranty on all mechanical hardware.

revolution gauges

Revolution gauges feature shift lights and setable warning lights. Pressure transducers (most accurate) are used for all pressure gauges. See Revolution Gauges.

Legacy Gauges

Legacy gauges feature more classic gauge looks without warning lights and shift lights. Just like the revolution series pressure transducers are used for all pressure gauges.

Speedhut gauges

Speedhut gauges are our introductory line without warning lights or shift lights and utilize a lower cost pressure sensor for the pressure gauges.
